Weather’s warm, school is out, and youngsters are furiously writing away at camp. The Young Writer’s Camp, hosted by Urban Rethink’s sister program Page 15 is now in its fourth year and the response this year has been overwhelming. The camp is five weeks of storytelling, song writing, poetry reading and bookmaking over the summer. Each week, students in a particular age group from first through ninth grade have the opportunity to work with creative professionals to develop and publish an original work of fiction. Students are nominated by teachers to attend the camp for one of the five weeks, and at the end of their designated week students leave with great memories and a beautifully bound book.
Thanks to the support of generous sponsors, campers can attend free of charge and experience what it’s like to be an author.
Your Urban ReThink membership fosters our working and gathering space while also directly supporting Page 15. Both initiatives are proudly part of the Urban Think! Foundation.
